So an oil pipeline broke, oil going up whats your prediction on how much in 2 weeks??

It was just in the news an alaskan oil pipe line broke due to errosion. Now they raised the prices on us after Katrina. But they havent gone back down to b4 Katrina, just up. Is this another ploy by the oil companies to raise their profits even more. Stop production. Was it a ';terrorist'; attack on our pipeline and they dont want people knowing we are vunerable? or was it really caused by errosion and the prices will go back down after 3 months?!?!? hmmmmmmmm lots of questionsSo an oil pipeline broke, oil going up whats your prediction on how much in 2 weeks??
I'm an economist and I am predicting about an $.10-15 raise over the next week. It crippled 8% of US Oil production which is a lot but we also have a large amount of reserve and foreign oil coming in. It won't be a huge increase but it will have an economic impact.

No it was not a terrorist attack or any type of cover up.So an oil pipeline broke, oil going up whats your prediction on how much in 2 weeks??
Depends on how long they take to fix it! Stock markets all over the world just enjoy to play up things to get more money for themselves. Oh, so much happenings around the world that will send oil prices up anyway. The Alaskan problem is nothing unusual...
3.50 a gallon and then settle back down to 3.10 thus creating an increased demand and interest in ethanol
yeah, ';an alaskan pipeline is broken';. i bet the bp ceo just didnt make his car payment
its probabaly errosion, i think those pipes are like 50/60 years old. i would think its going to go up by like $.25/gallon for about 6-9months. then maybe go back down. maybe.
The prices aren't likely to come down soon. At the rate of gas price inflation, gas could be $3.50 a gallon by December.

I think we should have a national oil boycott which may or may not be a good idea. However, that would show the oil companies that we are sick of the inflation they are giving our society.
The price of oil going up is due to the fact that the Bush administration encouraged the outsourcing of American jobs to other countries, the people of these countries can now afford cars. The demand has gone up. The supply is kept low, because America is pissing off the whole middle east with unjustified invasions of Iraq, and Bush's flat out refusal to comply with a direct request from the King of Saudi Arabia to interviene in the Isreal Lebanon conflict, etc. Not to mention he probably has stock in Exon/Mobil and is making a killing off of that.
They have not reached their pre summer goal of over $4.00 a gallon, this might be one way to do it. Hey I got an idea, everybody stop working until gas is at $1.00 a gallon. Just call in broke.
I don't think the price of gas will ever come down. Once it is up there it maybe drops a few cents but nothing real drastic. It was my understanding that all the big oil companies were going to use their windfall profits 56 billion for some to build ne w refineries and research new technogolies. But I don;t see that happing real soon. I am gals I own a horse because some day he may come in real handy to get to work.
gas will be up .25 a gallon in the next two weeks

  • Should the Dems be Castigated for ';Destroying'; Alaska's Environment by Building Oil Pipeline to North Slope?

The Dem controlled Congress passed the law which Nixon signed.Should the Dems be Castigated for ';Destroying'; Alaska's Environment by Building Oil Pipeline to North Slope?
Yes, go ahead and castigate them.Should the Dems be Castigated for ';Destroying'; Alaska's Environment by Building Oil Pipeline to North Slope?
please. If you put as much thought and energy into attempting to solve the problem as you do in attacking one particular party, we might all be better off. By your inference, it is the dems that are responsible for everything wrong with america and this simply reinforces my belief our current situation is the fault of BOTH parties. And be careful--if you blame the dems for the pipeline, then they will simply turn it around and blame nixon for signing the bill instead of vetoing it. See? each side is so busy blaming the other, nothing substancial gets done---and did you just hear that crashing sound? Oh, it was just another chunk of the artic ice sheet plunging into the ocean.
No, at that time people were waiting 2 hours in line to buy 10 gallons of gas. There was rationing, usually in the form of ';Odd-even'; license plates, where you could only by gas on certain days, depending on the last number of your license plate. The pipeline wasn't popular, but it needed to be done.
    Alaska's environment is not destroyed.
    Yeah. Whatever you say.

    Do you ever sleep?

    Do you run of batteries?
Yeah, that's clearly our biggest problem at the moment.

How many barrels of oil does the alskan pipeline produce daily?

they don't produce, they only carry

DHow many barrels of oil does the alskan pipeline produce daily?
Capacity for delivering more than 2 million barrels of oil through pipeline each day.

It's only running at about 50% of capacity.

How much would oil go up, if Russia bombed the pipeline though Georgia?

Is there any estimates out there? Becuase oil went down 2 more dollars today, so I think it stands somewhere around 115 or less...But Would it go up to 150? or lower...idk, I'm just wondering...How much would oil go up, if Russia bombed the pipeline though Georgia?
I think you could count on it going sky high in that scenario. Oil prices are a part of the spec market and the market tends to panic at even the smell of an oil problem...in all areas. How much would oil go up, if Russia bombed the pipeline though Georgia?

Two trading days have passed since Russia attacked Georgia. The oil prices continue to go down. Traders are not concerned much on the impact on oil supply (since they can re-channel through other pipelines). The likelihood for oil prices to rise is low.

Too bad for me, I can't get a good entry point into the market.

Building a pipeline above ground to transport Canada's oil and mineral resources?

    A) creates barriers to the migration of Arctic animals.

    B) causes acid rain.

    C) disrupts the permafrost of the fragile environment.

    D) permanently damages the natural vegetation.

Thanks in advance!Building a pipeline above ground to transport Canada's oil and mineral resources?
    A B and C

Does anyone else here think that bp shut down the oil pipeline now as an excuse to raise oil prices?

Definitely. In a matter of 2 hrs. price of gas went up $1.10.Does anyone else here think that bp shut down the oil pipeline now as an excuse to raise oil prices?
Yes, it is actually unbelievable to think about, to what lengths these people will go to, to steal our money. Apparently they are getting away with it, because we are manipulated by their lies.Does anyone else here think that bp shut down the oil pipeline now as an excuse to raise oil prices?
Check Yahoo news for the story. It has a picture of the corrosion of the pipeline. It is a piping integrity issue. It had to be done before a large failure.
Yes! The government wants our money!
    yes, I do
    No
The government r a**holes %26amp; they try 2 do thing elligaly.
    bbwaaaaaaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaa

The governmet want our money So they send a British company to steal it .

    TS: Get professional help
Yeah, it crossed my mind. Schools about to start and all those buses and cars will be hitting the road.
The repairs may be valid, but One has to question the timing. Things aren't always what they seem.
Yes I think they are using this as an excuse to raise gas prices and take a tax loss in the future!@
The only reason the gas prices are so high is because of money. People have money, they are willing to spend it on gas, the people that own gas companies are willing to make the money, investors are willing to pay more for gas futures, and everybody is happy, right???

    Well, obviously, no.

See it all started when oil futures went on the open market. Now instead of government controlling the oil prices, now investors' greedy hands are controlling them. The price of oil per barrel is as high as ever, $77 or so. Also, when there is news about some oil shortage, most currently the BP pipeline repairs, these same investors see opportunity and the oil futures shoot up again.

Now, high prices of crude oil translates to high prices for oil refineries. This translates to higher prices for gas companies (not as high as we are paying), which means high prices at the pump. But it seems nobody cares because people still buy gas. There are just as many SUV's, full sized trucks, people taking driving vacations, people driving to recreation (beach, parks, amusment parks, malls) as ever. It's supply and demand. People are using the gas, which everything after going to work, the store, and church is a luxury, and the gas companies are able to charge more for it.

It really isnt that we need help from the government. We need help from ourselves. We dont go out and spend $100 once a week on a steak from Ruth Chris because it is frivolous, yet we complain that $100 a week for gas is too much while we are driving all over town trying to find somewhere else to eat.
    yes george w loves it
This oil thing is BIG business and scams and smarties.

I told my friends that the Arabs would fight no more international war when the US invaded Iraq. I told them that the Arabs would fight with their greatest weapon 'OIL'. Just let the price run. And so it did.

Watch the TRICKERY: The Iranians told Hezbollah to kidnap the Israeli Soldiers to take world focus off their nuclear development. The time was right since Syria had already left Hezbollah in good defensive position - underground bunker, missiles like dirt and much greater that they have used already. (Israel found out that they would lose too much now that is why they withdrew. Oil price not affected much with this crisis because that was not the aim. So to get oil price to move up comes the bp shut down of oil pipeline price sour.

To take world focus off the middle east problem and the sad state that Israel has left Lebanon and rising oil price came the terrorist plot and the airport crack down.

The world is like a puppet show with five puppeteers - China, USA, Israel, Iran and Russia.
    Yes

Are they planning to use a ship to transport oil from the ANWR? or a pipeline?

I'm doing a school project and i need to know. And it would be even greater if you provided a source!! thanks! Are they planning to use a ship to transport oil from the ANWR? or a pipeline?
same as the other oil from northern Alaska... pipe it south to a ship, then ship it to their pals in China.
