Question about pipelining/gas and oil rigs?

Are there any regulations on how many hours that a pipeliner/gas/oil rig employee is to work? Do they have a certain number of hours for rest/sleep? To my understanding, an employee is supposed to have eight hours in between shifts. My brother works on a pipeline and they aren't given them any time to sleep and when they do it's four hours at the most. They do not provide them water and will not let them go get food. They give them four hours to sleep or eat then they have to be back to work. They have to work during storms. Isn't there anything to protect the workers from being worked like this?Question about pipelining/gas and oil rigs?
You might want to check with Cogent (the SSC for this area) or alternatively if he has a union or proffessional body they might be able to help!Question about pipelining/gas and oil rigs?
